“Tajzia means analysis. The entire experience of collaborating and resolving these pieces had to do with trying to dig deeper not only within themselves but also into the images they were working with, what they stand for and what meaning lies beneath each layer.
Saneeya, Hina and Malika have used traditional iconography and images and have given them a present-day context. They questioned where they were taken from and what they meant to them while trying to relate them to the cyanotypes that they experimented with and a more contemporary way of working. These paintings explore how these individuals and their imagery work together and separately, while keeping their own identity and communicating the narrative that they make juxtaposed against each other.”
